Elegant and intense, this Prestige blend of Grenache and Syrah is characterized by a nice balance with fine, vevelty tannins and over-ripe red fruits aromas. This delicious wine evolves into a long finish.
To enjoy at 18° and serve with a nice rib of beefsteak, a shoulder of lamb or just on its own for pleasure.
Superb vines and expert wine-making have ensured the wines at the Seigneurie de Peyrat are of the very highest quality. In fact, our reputation for creating delicious wines has led to the Seigneurie de Peyrat being chosen to manage the vineyards of Languedoc’s first 5-star vineyard resort - La Baraquette on the coast in the town of Marseillan.
Our range of wines continues to change and grow. We now offer four whites, an aromatic Sauvignon Blanc, a floral Chardonnay, a fruity Viognier and our ‘Tradition Blanc’ - a balanced blend of Chardonnay and Viognier. We now offer two rosé wines - our fresh and light ‘Rosé d’une Nuit’, and our fruity and fresh top of the range ‘Rosé Prestige’.
Four reds complete the range. Our Pinot Noir is light abd refreshing, perfect served slightly chilled on a hot day. Our Grenache is bursting with fruit flavours. Our ‘Tradition Rouge’ is an intense blend of Merlot and Syrah, and our top of the range ‘Les Lucquiers’ combines Grenache and Syrah to create a velvety, robust wine that is perfect with red meats.
As one of the oldest vineyards in the Pézenas area, the estate now cover over 170 hectares, including approximately 100 hectares of vines. Our viticulture values include the respect of land and nature along with the people who cultivate it, our vines are treated purely in case of risk and to enable the vines to increase their natural defenses, we prefer organic compost to chemical fertilizers.
The estate has a wide range of carefully selected grapes:
- For White wines: Chardonnay, Colombard, Roussanne, Sauvignon Blanc, Vermentino, Viognier
- For Rosé wines: Cinsault, Grenache, Sangiovese
- For Red wines: Grenache, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sangiovese, and Syrah
Our vines also benefit from the optimal conditions which make the vineyards of the Seigneurie de Peyrat one of the best terroirs in Languedoc.
- Three types of soils: Volcanic, Chalky clay and Villafranchien gravel from which we derive the best in order to create exceptional wines.
- The Mediterranean climate plays a key role: sunshine, low rainfall combined with local winds (Mistral and Tramontane), all provide perfect balance for ripening of our grapes.
The biotope coupled with special care and attention that we provide allows us to make the most of the vineyard: highly concentrated and healthy grapes.
Harvesting & wine-making
At Seigneurie de Peyrat, each parcel, each grape variety is independently vinified in order to be able to appreciate is uniqueness.
Whites and Rosés are vinified by direct pressing. The juice then passes into traditional tank where it is cooled to around 6°C in order to permit “debourbage” before the fermentation. Temperature are controlled during the fermentation process in order to preserve flavors. A part of the white wines finish their fermentation in oak barrels of 600 liters. Then the wine is matured in the barrels until the end of the spring.
The red grapes are directly driven into tanks where they are vinified under controlled temperature to preserve aromas. Fermentations will be more or less long depending the style of the wine we would like to make. When fermentation are completed, some of the reds wines are putted in barrels where they will age up to 24 months.
At the end of the year, each wine is tasted to find the most appropriate assemblage. Forming a single “Cuvée” is a meticulous work, the result of months of effort, care and attention. We take good care to identify the blend and profiles of each wine, defining the quality, originality and uniqueness of each vintage.
